The boutique will showcase the homemade gift items of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities from approximately 25 Adult Day Programs.
?The purpose of the ?1st Annual Holiday Boutique,? is to provide community awareness in sharing the talents of those individuals we support. The other intention is to inform the community that their talents demonstrate that people with disabilities also have hobbies and skills,? said Donna Gimm, Area Director of California MENTOR. ?It will be an awesome display with a wide range of creative works varying from jewelry to holiday ornaments.?
?The boutique is important to the individuals participating as it is a rewarding experience for them and it gives them a sense of self-worth,? said Gimm.
Gimm also encourages the community to come out and purchase items from the boutique because all proceeds will go back to the individual clients to use for their advocacy group events.
