Kate Gosselin will run for a good cause.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but the disease itself is a year-round battle for the many women affected by it. (According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 226,870 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year alone.)
It?s a cause near to the hearts of many celebrities as well, whether they?ve been personally affected, know someone who has or who just want to help put an end to a disease that is the second leading cause of cancer death in women.
So you?ll be hearing a lot this month about famous moms doing their part to increase awareness and raise money toward breast cancer research and treatment.
Among them: Kate Gosselin, the former star of Kate Plus 8 who has since gone on to various TV, book and website projects.
CouponCabin announced today that Kate ? who writes one of their weekly money-saving blogs ? will represent the site in two fundraising races this month.
?Kate will be running the Rock ?n? Roll New York 10K on October 13 and the Rock ?n Roll Los Angeles Halloween Half Marathon on October 28,? the site announces.
The mom of eight became an avid runner two years ago, and now she keeps to a routine of running 10 miles every other day while the kids are in school or spending the weekend with dad Jon. She ran her first marathon last December.
Both races will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization working to end breast cancer through research and advocacy.
