HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) ? Philadelphia?s SugarHouse Casino has been hit with the first fines since it opened in September 2010.
The Gaming Control Board has hit SugarHouse with two fines totaling $80,000, $70,000 of which is for seven incidents of gaming involving youngsters from the ages of 17 to 20, which occurred between February of last year and March of this year.
Gaming board spokesman Doug Harbach says stopping underage gaming is a tough challenge for casinos.
?The casinos will card tens of thousands of individuals during the course of a year. And some underagers will find a way, though, to get through that system. We do fine the casino for that, because they made a mistake. But, at the same time, you?re going to have these individuals who are going to try to continually get in and gamble.?
SugarHouse was fined another ten grand for incidents involving two people who gambled even though they had placed themselves on the gaming board?s self-exclusion list.
